Overview of Experience

Security

2005 to present - My name is Karen L. Tatalovich. I am a licensed private investigator, an International Crime Prevention Specialist (ICPS) by the internationally and nationally recognized International Society of Crime Prevention Practitioners (ISCPP), and a Partner of Tatalovich & Associates, Incorporated. I specialize in the analysis, categorization and summarization of crime statistics, which include: violent and property crimes, calls for service, related law enforcement reports, security incident reports, maintenance reports, committee board minutes, crime grids, and grid ranking where applicable. I am involved in crime scene reconstruction, measurements, photography, and the examination of neighborhoods surrounding a crime scene. I assist Mr. Tatalovich in the preparation of expert testimony to include standard of care, review and highlighting of material issues in voluminous depositions, police reports and witness statements. I also assist Mr. Tatalovich in interviewing witnesses with regard to premise liability, security negligence, sexual harassment, and complex investigations.

Investigative

I am responsible for the firm's investigation department, to include, however not limited to, background investigations which include litigation related inquiries, commercial transactions, environmental matters, profiles for jury selection, mergers and acquisitions, securities matters, business disputes, sexual harassment claims, class-action lawsuits, criminal and prior medical history, state and county records, business and financial reports. I specialize in sensitive witness interviews, location investigations, employment and education verification, credit and business reports where permissible, coordination of the firm's eleven national databases and Internet research. I have the resources and capability for background inquiries in all fifty states. I am a member of the firm's electronic countermeasures physical search team. I am skilled in handwriting analysis, digital photography and in the preparation of executive protection personal dossiers.

TATALOVICH & ASSOCIATES, INC. - 1994 to 2005. Senior Associate. I was responsible for the firm's background and asset investigation department. I specialized in background investigations which primarily included litigation related inquiries, commercial transactions, environmental matters, profiles for jury selection, mergers and acquisitions, securities matters, business disputes, sexual harassment claims, class-action lawsuits, criminal and prior medical history, state and county records, business and financial reports. I assisted Mr. Tatalovich in the analysis, categorization and summarization of crime statistics, which include violent, and property crimes, calls for service, law enforcement reports, internal incident reports, crime grids, and grid ranking where applicable. I also assist Mr. Tatalovich in the preparation of expert testimony to include the review and highlighting of material issues in voluminous depositions, police reports and witness statements. My expertise also encompasses assisting Mr. Tatalovich in interviewing witnesses with regard to sexual harassment, premise liability and security negligence matters. I am also skilled in the preparation of executive protection personal dossiers.

1993 to 1994 - Investigator. I assisted in background and asset investigations, public record and Internet inquiries, preparation of executive protection dossiers and surveillance feasibility. I was also a member of the electronic countermeasures search team.

1991 to 1992 - Assistant Investigator. One-year internship with E. Dwayne Tatalovich. The employment/internship provided training in background and asset investigations, specifically public record inquiries and various techniques of interviewing witnesses. Mr. Tatalovich also provided training in report writing to include summaries, opinions and recommendations with respect to the preparation of detailed background investigations and crime analysis. I also assisted in surveillance and was a member of the electronic countermeasures physical search team.

FIRSTAR METROPOLITAN BANK & TRUST - Phoenix, Arizona - May 1989 to March 1991. Loan Documentation Specialist/Assistant to Loan Department Supervisor. I was responsible for maintaining loan files, conducting weekly audits, preparing loan documentation, assisting lending personnel with file compliance and assisted my supervisor by interfacing with title companies, insurance carriers and public service offices. Mr. Tatalovich was the Chairman of Metropolitan Bank during my employment. In March of 1991, I was offered a position with Tatalovich & Associates, which I accepted.

CRESCENT ELECTRIC SUPPLY COMPANY - South Bend, Indiana - April 1987 to December 1988. Administrative Assistant. I was responsible for coordinating purchase orders, maintaining various sales files and related documentation.

FIRST SOURCE BANK - South Bend, Indiana - January 1986 to February 1987. I was assigned to the First Source Bank Operations Center with responsibilities including balancing deposits from various businesses and operating a Burroughs Ten-Key Machine. I was also responsible for encoding checks included in the deposits and processed 1800 items per minute. I was presented with “Rookie of the Year” award in 1987.
